Peace is something I can find in many, many places: sitting on the dock, inner peace in the middle of a mosh pit, with friends at the bar, sitting at home by myself.
Peace has been hard for me to come by lately for many reason.
dVerse prompt today was peace!! Here's what I came up with while listening to a new punk CD that came in the mail today. Let me know what you think, please!! Thanks!!
Peace
Guitar in hand,
watered down whiskey in reach
Sitting cross-legged in a corner.
Notebook open, and a pen, in front of me.
Quiet, except for The Band playing
on low from my computer.
I lean back and smile.
ah been there and done that...me and my bandmates used to go sit on the graves at a graveyard behind my house and write...just acoustic and us...and the moon...
ReplyDeleteWell I'm about to have cocoa and rum :) and I might just write another poem later.
ReplyDeleteha! that made me smile!
DeleteI like the quiet moment, listening to the music, with an open notebook ~
ReplyDeletePeaceful indeed, Katie - really like the feel of this! Listening to my husband playing guitar on the porch right now - trying out the new amp- K
ReplyDeleteYeah that's nice... lovely words.
ReplyDeleteSweet. I like the feeling this gives of someone peacefully connected to her music. Nice.
ReplyDelete:) some of my best moments were had with guitar in hand, but never did I combine them with whiskey. And now I can barely recall a chord. Whiskey came in louder places with friend warmed peace. I like this piece.
ReplyDeleteYour image brought me incredible peace ~ hope you caught it as well!
ReplyDeletePeace comes in many forms but once found a smile always comes.
ReplyDelete...music is another companion along with poetry t'wards creating perpetual peace... And yes..best accompanied with a drink... smiles...
ReplyDeleteAlways, our creative outlets bring us peace. I spent many hours as a teenager listening to Dylan and The Band.... Music is such a pure form of peace.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved music... and used to love the drink, too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful image; often I feel the same way and it serves as a source of inspiration.
ReplyDeleteIn my mind
The music slips
A silent note
I've always found peace within music as well... it calms your soul and beats to the rhythm of your heart.
ReplyDeletenice...playing the guitar or any instrument can be so meditative...
ReplyDeleteSounds like you found it. Peace is an indiviual thing, and we each find it in our own way, in our own time.
ReplyDeletePeace and punk - not a combination that immediately springs to mind, but we all find peace in our own ways. Sometimes I love strumming my stress away.
ReplyDeleteSounds like creative peace to me, too, Katie!
ReplyDeleteDelightfully peaceful!
ReplyDeletePeace is indeed the pleasure of things that bring us happiness and contentment.
ReplyDeleteLovely write.
